Changing a Gateway’s Instance Size

You can change a gateway’s instance size, if needed, to change gateway throughput. The gateway will restart with a different instance size.

  • Changing a gateway’s instance size will change the instance size for all gateway instances in that VPC or VNet.

  • CoPilot does not allow to change an individual gateway instance size. You can change an individual gateway instance size by using Terraform.

  • Changing a Transit Gateway’s instance size may cause network traffic disruption. Aviatrix Controller attempts to minimize the disruption by forwarding traffic to the highly available (HA) Transit Gateway instance, if available, in that VPC or VNet.

  • During AWS Spoke Gateway resizing, extended traffic loss may occur.

To change a gateway’s instance size:

  1. In CoPilot, go to Cloud Fabric > Gateways.

  2. On the top, select the tab for the type of Gateway for which you want to change the instance size.

  3. In the table, locate the Gateway and click its Edit icon on the right.

  4. In the Gateway Edit dialog box, from the Instance Size dropdown menu, select the new instance size.

  5. Click Save.

After you click Save, the gateway instance(s) in that VPC or VNet will stop and restart again with the new instance size, one by one.

During resizing, network traffic is automatically forwarded to the highly available gateway instance(s), if available, in that VPC or VNet.
