This Copilot configuration backup can be used to restore your CoPilot settings in the event of device failure and helps to save you the efforts on manually configuring all the settings on CoPilot again if you have to re-deploy a new CoPilot from Controller UI. It is highly recommended that you enable the Backup CoPilot Configuration option as soon as you have deployed CoPilot.
Starting from Aviatrix Controller 7.0-patch1.579 and CoPilot 3.7 release, you can use the CoPilot configuration backup and restore function to back up and restore your configurations on CoPilot. |
Prerequisites of CoPilot Configuration Backup and Restore
Before you backup and restore the CoPilot configuration, make sure:
-
Your Controller version is no earlier than 7.0-patch1.579 and your CoPilot version is no earlier than 3.7.
-
Your current CoPilot was deployed via Controller UI.
If you deployed CoPilot using Terraform or marketplace, the CoPilot configuration restore function will not be clickable on the Controller UI. |
Back Up Your CoPilot Configuration
Perform the following steps to back up your CoPilot configuration:
-
Log into your CoPilot.
-
Go to the Backup CoPilot Configuration card under Settings > Maintenance > CoPilot Management, click Enable.
The CoPilot configuration will be initiated after you click the Enable button. The CoPilot configuration is then set to automatically back up every 15 minutes.
Restore Your CoPilot Configuration
Make sure you have enabled the CoPilot Configuration backup before you restore it. See Back Up Your CoPilot Configuration. Check the Prerequisites of CoPilot Configuration Backup and Restore.
You can restore your backed up CoPilot configurations to a new CoPilot when you deploy a new CoPilot instance or a Fault-Tolerant(Clustered) deployment.
Perform the following steps to Restore your CoPilot configuration:

Log into your Controller UI.
-
Go to ONBOARDING > Aviatrix CoPilot.
-
Choose your deployment type: simple or fault-tolerant.
If your old CoPilot is a simple deployment, you can only choose Simple Deployment.

Check Restore from CoPilot Backup.
-
Check I understand that this operation will delete the existing instance.
